Marco Island Beaches
Marco Island is located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida and it is surrounded by miles of pristine and uninhabited islands.
Marco Island is a popular vacation with families between January and March.
If you’re planning your first ever Marco Island family holiday, January through March is the best time to go and join other families.
Also, most annual events in Marco Island do happen in January which is another incentive for a Marco Island holiday.
Some of these annual events in Marco Island happening in January include:
* Marco National Fine Art & Fine Craft Festival
* Swamp Buggy Races at Florida Sports Park
* New Year's Art Festival happening at fifth Avenue South in Naples
* Southwest Florida Birding Festival - Rookery Bay
However, if you're on a tight budget and want to visit Marco Island, then I would advise traveling to Marco Island between May and November, and stay at a campsite such as Collier-Seminole State Park where you can also rent an RV.
There are two public Marco Island beaches and they are as follows:
* Tigertail Beach entrance is located at the Intersection of Spinnaker Dr. and Hernando Dr. and offers toilets and showers facilities. Tigertailbeach is the most popular one as it features picnic areas and a volley beach area.
* South Marco Beach is located on Collier Boulevard North of Cape Marco and the public parking is located on Swallow Avenue. This beach has no facilities.
Most people that come on a Marco Island vacation are in search of sun, beaches and water activities that include fly fishing.
If you're looking for Marco Island attractions that don't involve only going down the beaches, you can check out the following attractions.
Here it's our list of things to do in Marco Island:
* The National Estuarine Research Reserve and Briggs Memorial Nature Center is an educational place where you can learn more about Southwest Florida native wildlife.
* Visit the fishing villages of Goodland, Everglades City, Chokoloskee and Flamingo.
* Explore Collier-Seminole State Park which is located on one of the largest mangrove swamps in the world. Two great ways to explore the park are off-road biking and along the Black Water River on a boat.
* The Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve is another great place explore as Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve contains the largest stand of native royal palms and largest concentration and variety of orchids in the USA.
* Big Cypress National Preserve is another top attraction in Marco Island, especially if want to camp out and enjoy hiking, hunting and other outdoors activities.
